Fourth Product Distribution & Sustainability Study

KRR’s fourth distribution took place in June 2022 at the Bardarash Refugee Camp. Our Director of Operations, Arazoo Shwany, led a team of local volunteers to distribute 150 dignity kits to women with a history of gender-based violence at the camp. Each kit consisted of 5 reusable pads provided by AFRIpads, period underwear, and printed educational materials about how to use the products. AFRIpads is a world leader in producing reusable sanitary products for women throughout Africa and beyond. Based in Kampala, Uganda, it is committed to empowering women through business, innovation, and opportunity. They aim to support the menstrual health needs of women in order to get one step closer to gender equality. AFRIpads has positively impacted 3.5 million women and girls since 2010.

The team conducted baseline surveys in Arabic in order to assess the women’s unmet needs and their attitudes toward reusable menstrual products. Each participant also provided their phone number so the team could contact them 2 months later for a follow-up survey after using the reusable products. During these two months, there was a water interruption in the region.
